Keeping a two-person tent organized when rain forces everything inside

Two people, one small tent, and an afternoon of steady rain: suddenly the backpacks, damp jackets, shoes and cooking bag are all fighting for the same patch of floor. We keep our sleeping bags dry but spend too much time shuffling things around. I'm thinking of separating a tiny ‘must stay dry’ pouch from everything else and putting shoes under the vestibule, but ours is shallow. How do you organize a cramped tent when going outside to sort equipment isn't an option?

Keep the floor clear by making one corner the dry zone and one corner the wet zone. Shoes stay by the door or in a plastic bag, jackets get hung from the tent loop if you have one, and everything else goes in one bin or stuff sack so it stops drifting around.

We use a small mesh bag for headlamps, phones, and chargers, and that stays near the sleeping bags. It sounds fussy until the rain starts and nobody has to dig through socks.

If the vestibule is shallow, I’d skip trying to be fancy with the shoes. Put them in a grocery bag or a dry sack outside the sleeping area, even if they’re still damp.

The dry sack idea might be the missing piece for us. We’ve been treating shoes like they need a proper spot instead of just getting them out...
