A camp chair takes a ridiculous amount of space in my car for an item I technically don't need. Yet after hiking all day, sitting on a log with a wet backside makes the evening much less enjoyable. I'm tempted by a small folding chair, provided it isn't so flimsy that it sinks into soft ground. For car camping, what comfort item has earned its bulk, and what luxury did you stop bothering to pack?

A chair is worth it for car camping, no question. The thing I stopped packing was a “just in case” second lantern that I never touched.

Same here. I’d rather carry a decent chair and skip extra gadgets I only admire in the trunk.
If the ground is soft, look for a wider footprint. The cheap tiny ones are fine until you sit down and slowly become one with the mud.
That image is exactly why I’m hesitant. I don’t mind bulk if it turns into actual comfort, but I don’t want a chair that behaves like a trap...
