Owning a car that sits unused most weekdays

Safety-critical vehicle advice should be treated as general discussion; use qualified repair help when a fault could make a vehicle unsafe.

My car mostly sits from Monday through Friday. I use it for groceries, visiting family and an occasional trip out of town. The convenience is real, but insurance, registration, parking and maintenance keep adding up even when the odometer barely moves. I've started noting every trip I couldn't comfortably do by transit or taxi. Has anyone actually sold a rarely used car and regretted it a few months later? The awkward part for me is not the everyday errands; it's spontaneous weekend plans.
