Steering vibration only around one highway speed

Safety-critical vehicle advice should be treated as general discussion; use qualified repair help when a fault could make a vehicle unsafe.

Steering wheel vibrates only in a narrow highway-speed band. Below it: almost nothing. Faster: less noticeable again. Tire pressures match, no vibration under braking.

I am thinking wheel balance and tire/wheel condition before chasing suspension parts. Sensible order?

Balance first makes sense. A vibration in one speed band usually starts with tires or wheels before you chase joints.

I’d add a quick look for uneven tire wear or a bent wheel. My old car did exactly this and it turned out to be one ugly tire.

Sensible order, yes. If the tires are older or the car sat for a while, that can make it show up more obviously.
