The bathroom tile is in good shape and the layout works, but the taps, mirror and light fixture look twenty years older than the rest of the house. I'd like a refresh without ripping out functional surfaces. I'm considering new hardware, a better mirror, lighting and repainting the ceiling first. Which relatively small upgrades made a bathroom feel noticeably better, and which triggered unexpected plumbing or waterproofing work?
