I had four Kyoto days and somehow assigned two of them to day trips. I removed one and the itinerary instantly looked better.
Now one day has a temple area, lunch, and nothing else booked. Suspiciously empty. Much more appealing.

Good move. One empty day in Kyoto usually ends up being the best day because you’re not trying to race through the city.

That’s the hope. I kept overfilling the plan and every version looked tired.
Temple area, lunch, and nothing else booked is a very respectable itinerary. Not every good day needs to be optimized into dust.
The suspiciously empty day is usually the one people remember. You can always add a cafe or a walk later if the mood changes.
