A prospective employer has asked for references before making an offer. I'd rather not alert my current manager that I'm looking, and several former colleagues have moved away from the company. I'm thinking of providing previous supervisors or project leads and explaining that my current employer should only be contacted at a later stage. Is that a normal boundary, and how do you phrase it without sounding evasive?
