I recognize dozens of words instantly when reading, yet in conversation the same words vanish until someone else says them. Flashcards make recognition easy if I always see the target word first, so I'm experimenting with prompts in my native language that force me to produce it instead. Does active recall training carry over into conversation, or do you need sentence-level practice under a little pressure? The gap is frustrating because my vocabulary looks much better on paper than out loud.
