One pleasure of traveling alone is that I can abandon a museum after twenty minutes and spend the rest of the afternoon wandering a market. Strangely, I still feel guilty changing an itinerary I spent hours planning, as though someone is grading me. I'm learning to treat reservations as commitments but most other plans as options. Have you become more spontaneous while traveling solo, or do you still struggle to let the schedule go?

Same. I still book the first night and the important transport, but after that I’m much happier changing course if a street looks interesting or I get tired.
Reservations feel like the only real promises to me too. Everything else is just a suggestion I made while feeling optimistic.
That’s a good way to put it. I keep one anchor activity per day and let the rest float.
