Late arrival: sleep near the airport or go straight into the city?

Flight lands around 11:30 pm and the airport is about an hour from the city.

For a five-night trip, I am leaning toward doing the ugly late transfer once and waking up where we actually want to be, rather than sleeping by the airport and moving again after breakfast.

I’d go straight into the city for a five-night trip too. One rough night is easier to live with than moving hotels twice.

If the airport transfer is easy enough at that hour, I agree. The annoying part is usually the second move, not the first one.
