SpinalSyn - anyone tried it?

Keep coming across this back pain device called SpinalSyn lately and ended up going down a bit of a rabbit hole reading about it. The more I read, the more interesting it seems, but I'm not sure how much of it is just marketing.

Anyone here actually using one? Would love to hear if it's helped your back at all.

Yeah I have one. Those things actually work. I finished the 8 weeks a few months back and my back is still doing great. I only get it out once in a while now, haven't really needed it much. Using it every day can be a bit annoying though.

That's encouraging to hear. How long did it take before you started noticing a difference?

      6

I'd say around 2 or 3 weeks before I really noticed anything. Was pretty gradual at first. By the end of the 8 weeks it was a completely dif...

What was annoying about using it every day? The setup or just having to remember to do it?

        5

Mostly just having to put it on every day. Once it's on it's fine, but some days you just don't feel like bothering with it. Got used to it...

Interesting. Were you doing anything else for your back during those 8 weeks? PT, exercises, anything like that?

Been using it for a while now. Hard to explain but my lower back just feels stronger and more stable. Used to constantly shift around in my chair trying to get comfortable. Now sitting properly just feels more natural, don't really have to think about it anymore. Way less pain too, which is obviously the biggest thing for me. Definitely made a difference.

When you say stronger, do you actually feel your muscles working differently or is it more that the pain is gone?

          5

Bit of both I guess. My back used to get tired really quickly, especially sitting at my desk all day. Now it just doesn't seem to bother me...

Interesting you mention sitting. That's when my back is at its worst. How long have you been using it?

            4

About 5 months now. Did the daily sessions for the first 8 weeks. Don't use it nearly as often anymore.

Did you notice any change in your posture or just that sitting became more comfortable?

Didn't work for me. Tried it for a little over a week and felt absolutely no difference in my back. Didn't like the electrical pulses either, and having to strap the whole thing on every day was annoying. Ended up returning it. Definitely not something I'd try again.

Was the electrical stimulation painful or just uncomfortable?

              5

Not exactly painful, just a really strange sensation. Couldn't get used to it. I know some people don't mind that sort of thing but I defini...

A little over a week seems pretty short considering they say it's an 8-week program.

                4

Maybe, but I wasn't going to spend another 7 weeks doing something I didn't like when I wasn't seeing any results.

How was the return process? Any issues getting your money back?

I've been using it alongside some exercises my PT gave me and my back's honestly a lot better now. I'd done the exercises before without much success, but this time around the improvement has been pretty significant. That said, I've also been more consistent and changed up my routine quite a bit, so hard to know how much is the SpinalSyn and how much is everything else. Whatever the combination is, it's working for me.

Interesting. What did you change about your routine?

                  4

Mostly being more consistent with the exercises, doing more walking and taking breaks from sitting. Before I'd do PT for a couple weeks, fee...

Honestly being consistent with PT probably made a huge difference on its own.

                    5

Could be. I've wondered the same thing. But I was doing some of these exercises before and never felt this much improvement, so who knows.

Did your physical therapist recommend SpinalSyn or did you decide to try it yourself?

Yeah exactly. Temporary relief is nice but I'm hoping for something that actually makes a difference over time.

Would be interesting to hear from someone who's had it for a year or more.
