Handling a missed week in the middle of a training plan

I missed a full week in the middle of a beginner training plan because work became chaotic. The spreadsheet now says I should run a distance that no longer feels sensible. I'm leaning toward repeating the previous comfortable week rather than rushing to catch up. How do you adjust a plan after a short interruption without treating every missed session like a debt that must be repaid?

Repeat the comfortable week. One missed week is not a bill you have to pay back, and forcing the distance usually just makes the next run miserable.

I did this after I got sick and it worked fine. I stayed where I was for a week, then moved on once the old distance felt normal again.

Same here. I also kept the easier effort, not just the same mileage, so I wasn’t trying to “catch up” and “progress” at the same time.

That’s the part people miss. The plan is a guide, not a debt collector.

If the spreadsheet is pushing something that feels off, I’d rather slide the whole plan forward than cram. Missing a week happens.
